A T20 Champions League
Monday, May 12, 2008
Buoyant by the impressive launch of the Indian Premier League, it’s organisers have already started chalking out plans to take the event to the next level. A soccer style Champions League, featuring top domestic Twenty20 sides from several countries is in the pipeline and may see the daylight as soon as October this year.
It has been reliably learnt that England have been offered the chance to host the mega tournament, which is likely to be held between the ICC Champions Trophy - which ends on September 28 - and the first Test between India and Australia, starting October 9. A prominent cricket centre in North India has also been named as the back-up venue.
