The International Cricket Council (ICC) on wednesday confirmed that, contrary to some recent media reports, the Champions League Twenty20 competition set to take place for the first time later this year has not been incorporated into the Future Tours Programme (FTP).

McCullum likely to choose Otago over NSW in CL T20

His Indian Premier League side, Kolkata Knight Riders may not have qualified for the inaugural Champions League Twenty20, but Brendon McCullum is in a two-way race to play in the tournament and is likely to turn out for his home side Otago Volts instead of New South Wales.

Aussies may snare McCullum for Twenty20

Otago cricket chiefs say they'll consider an audacious US$250,000 ($404,000) bid from New South Wales to grab Brendon McCullum for the inaugural Champions League Twenty20 tournament in October. Otago, the New Zealand Twenty20 champions, were yesterday celebrating their invitation to the tournament in India which was extended from eight to 12 teams and carries a first prize of US$3 million.

Pakistan get raw deal again

Pakistan’s cricket officials were on Monday clueless over why their team was kept out of the Champions League Twenty20 competition and what they needed to do to get it inducted in the multi-million-dollar tournament. Lalit Modi, the Champions League chief from India has declared that Pakistan are not a part of the seven-nation spectacle because their players cannot travel to India due to government restrictions. Players to decode problems of dual loyalties themselves: Modi

Herschelle Gibbs, who is part of the champion South African franchise, Cape Cobras and also a member of the IPL winner Hyderabad Deccan Chargers, can take his own call on which ever team he wishes to play for in the Champions League later this year.

Champions League T20 to be held in October in India

Twelve teams will contest in the inaugural Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) tournament to be played in India from Oct 8-23. The tournament will feature three teams from India (two finalists and the top league finishing team), top two domestic T20 teams from South Africa, England, Australia and the domestic T20 Champions from New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka. A total of 23 matches will be held in CLT20 carrying a prize pool of $USD 6 million.

Twelve teams to contest CLT20

Twelve teams would contest the inaugural edition of the Champions League Twenty20 to be held in India. This was announced by the three founder members in Johannesburg. The twelve teams participating in the Champions League Twenty20 will comprise of three teams from India (2 finalists and the top league finishing team), who will compete against the top 2 domestic T20 teams from South Africa, England, Australia and the domestic T20 Champions from New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka.

ECB and Indian board agree compromise on Champions League Twenty20 tournament

The England & Wales Cricket Board has won a compromise from the Indian board which will see two county teams participate in the $6 million Champions League Twenty20 tournament, regardless of fielding players with links to the rebel Indian Cricket League.
